Explaining the Different Types of Digital Assets

An educational graphic displaying various forms of digital assets that can be utilized in external and internal communications for design, broadcast, marketing, content creation, education, entertainment, and more. Assets include images, videos, design files, documents, PDFs, presentations, marketing collateral, websites, audio files, content and copy, social media posts, and more.

This blog is one part of a series of content we have produced on digital document remediation. In addition to this blog, we also have a video showing the lived experience and impact of inaccessible digital documents for a person with disabilities, a blog post detailing the Top 8 Sneaky Crucial Digital Document Remediation Mistakes to Avoid, a  podcast detailing our team members’ lived experience of interacting with inaccessible digital documents, and a resource sheet of podcasts we’ve listened to on digital document information from the Chax Chat podcast.

It’s unmistakable that the world today has a greater reliance on the web, plus digital and online services. This increased usage and demand means equal access to digital information for all is more critical than ever before. At Tamman, we know that making a commitment to digital inclusivity can feel daunting, and embracing it is liberating.

Most organizations know their website is their primary digital asset; however, your digital portfolio is much wider. The need for accessibility affects almost every aspect of our digital work and communications, everything from our brand to our project-level work. From incorporating digital accessibility best practices to reducing the access-to-information barriers and issues.

When considering your portfolio, did you know that the following list of assets should be optimized for digital accessibility?

  • Content, copy, and assets files, including images, videos, podcasts, audio, and more
  • Branding including logos, style guide, color palette, and more
  • Work assets and marketing collateral, including documents, reports, presentations, PDFs, and more, created using:
